Educational Service Unit #3 is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Brook Valley School team. This position provides therapy services for students with verified disabilities, helping them participate fully in their educational programs and daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative OT services
Develop individualized therapy goals aligned with student IEPs/IFSPs
Collaborate with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Conduct environmental assessments and recommend adaptive equipment
Support sensory and self-regulation strategies within behavior plans
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy
Nebraska OT License
Experience with students with intellectual disabilities, emotional-behavioral disorders, or autism spectrum disorders preferred
Knowledge of assistive technology and sensory integration practices
This is a 190-day position aligned with the Brook Valley School calendar. Regular, in-person attendance is required, with limited potential for remote work upon supervisor approval.

Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy (OT)
Licensed through the State of Nebraska
Preferred Experience: Prior experience in a school-based setting or with students with complex intellectual disabilities, emotional-behavioral disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.
Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with assistive technology (AT) implementation and sensory integration techniques relevant to the school environment.
No history of child abuse or negligence
Successfully pass required background checks.
Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment. The assigned duties of this position may allow consideration of occasional/infrequent remote work with the approval of the supervisor. Remote work is subject to the remote work guidelines and conditions outlined in the job description. The supervisor may withdraw the remote work option at any time.
Essential Responsibilities: (Job Tasks)
Understands and complies with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook, as well as the specific protocols and program philosophy of Brook Valley School.
Provides direct and indirect OT services to students with a verified disability within the Brook Valley School environment.
Assists students to be able to participate in appropriate educational programs and activities of daily living.
Develops appropriate therapy plans and establishes educationally relevant goals.
Collaborates, coaches, demonstrates and instructs the child, family, Brook Valley School personnel and others in the implementation of the program and activities to enhance the goals of the child’s program and to build competence, capacity and confidence in the child’s caregivers/teachers.
Conducts environmental assessments to identify and address sensory and physical barriers to learning and participation within the classroom and school building.
Assists the child, parents and personnel in the access and use of community resources.
Communicates verbally or in writing with physicians and other agencies involved with a student when a Release of Information has been obtained.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of written progress notes and service documentation logs for all students, as well as other internal ESU #3/Brook Valley written documentation as required by the administration.
Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings as an evaluator and team member.
Provides appropriate IEP and IFSP goals and progress reports for each student.
Actively participates in the development and implementation of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) by consulting on sensory and self-regulation strategies.
Assists in the selection and/or modification of equipment in Brook Valley School, home, and community to meet student needs.
Establishes and maintains working relationships with community agencies who may be involved in services to the child or family.
Displays appropriate interpersonal skills to effectively work with parents, administrators, Brook Valley personnel and the community.
Seeks out and participates in appropriate staff development activities to maintain and improve professional skills.
Regularly accesses the e-mail system for review of materials distributed from ESU #3.
Provides own transportation to fulfill responsibilities of position.
